HB Construction CEO recognized as one of ENR Southwest's Top 20 Under 40

HB Construction President and CEO Jason W. Harrington has been named one of Engineering News Record Southwest’s 2011 Top 20 Under 40, based on criteria such as professional achievement, contributions to the industry and community involvement.

"Jason’s leadership, passion and intense dedication to not only the company, but the community at large, make him one of the few CEOs who can command the respect of even the most seasoned industry professionals," said HB Construction Director of Business Development Jen Mulliniks.

The annual publication honors young industry leaders who are under the age of 40, work primarily in Arizona, Nevada or New Mexico and have helped shape the construction industry and make the Southwest a better place to live. All of the honorees were featured in ENR Southwest’s Jan. 23 issue.

"This year’s Top 20 Under 40 winners are rising stars during an era of transition in which adopting technologies and integrating services are key to a firm’s survival," said ENR Southwest Editor Scott Blair. "All have earned the respect of their peers and colleagues, and each of them will be making significant contributions to the Southwest’s construction industry."

Since taking over HB Construction as president and CEO in 2005, Harrington has overseen more than $240 million worth of commercial construction projects, expanded the company’s staff, built a new 10,000-sq.-ft. headquarters and increased revenue by double digits.

Under Harrington’s leadership the company was recently named the 2011 American Subcontractors Association of New Mexico’s General Contractor of the Year and New Mexico Business Weekly’s 2011 Best Place to Work in the small company category.

Along with making a profound impact on the business community, Harrington has also made a lasting impact on the community through his active involvement with organizations such as the American Red Cross, the University of New Mexico School of Engineering Construction Programs Advisory Council and the United Way.

Harrington also recently helped establish the HB Construction Endowment, an endowment set up to serve as a permanent funding source for non-profit organizations throughout New Mexico, through the Albuquerque Community Foundation.

Of the 20 honorees, Harrington was the only CEO honored and one of only three people from a New Mexico company.

The Top 20 Under 40 honorees were selected by a panel of judges comprised of industry experts, some of whom were honored as ENR Southwest’s 2010 Top 20 Under 40.

The awards program began as a way to highlight young industry leaders working in the Southwest’s architecture, engineering and construction industries.
