HB Construction Team Raises $1,000 at Annual Making Strides Walk
Raising $1,000 to help fight breast cancer, several HB Construction staffers joined together with thousands of supporters in a five-mile walk along the Rio Grande River, Sunday, April 29, for the American Cancer Society’s 20th Annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
"This was my first ‘Making Strides’ walk and it was a truly harrowing experience to see so many people come out and support such a worthy cause," said HB Construction Project Coordinator Melora Lucero, who also coordinated HB Construction’s participation in the walk.
Collecting a total of $1,000 dollars, several of HB Construction’s full-time staff participated in the five-mile walk, which drew in upwards of 20,000 participants from throughout the state.
Money from the walk will help fund research and prevention, treatment, and care for people battling cancer, and support the lobbying efforts of the American Cancer Society.
Since it’s inception in 1993, nearly eight million walkers have raised more than $450 million to help fight breast cancer through participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, noncompetitive, three-to-five-mile walks.
